CT Alumni Off to Graduate School

Congratulations to York graduates Kahlil Garner, ’07 and Shanté Pierre, ’09. Both are starting MFA programs this fall.

Kahlil was a Communications Technology minor with a desire to attend film school for some time. This fall he will begin his MFA in Film at Columbia College Chicago.

While studying at York, he was accepted to the prestigious Academy of Television of Arts & Sciences Internship program. He was placed with the production company Creative Differences where Kahlil was a segment producer on the show Made in America. Kahlil was also the founder of the video production club at York College which is still active today.

Shanté was a Communications Technology major with a focus on animation. This fall she will begin her MFA in Design and Technology at Parsons The New School.

While studying at York, Shanté created a 5 min animation entitled “Party Wisdom.” It was an adaption of the Japanese version of the Moon Rabbit myth about a Monkey, Fox and Rabbit that help an Old Man. Shanté recently visited to York as a guest reviewer of CT major portfolios. You can see her online portfolio, which was part of her application to the New School.
